Less than a mile away, Sherman Oaks residents defeated T-Mobile this past August.

On August 17, 2010, the Daily News* reported that nearby Sherman Oaks residents successfully waged a campaign to keep a controversial cellular phone tower out of their neighborhood. By a 5-0 vote, the South Valley Area Planning Commission overturned a zoning administrator's decision to allow T-Mobile to erect a 49-foot-high cell tower and transmitter on the roof of a three-story commercial building at 15216 Burbank Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.

Community residents challenged and proved that T-Mobile representatives failed to document substantial efforts to find other locations that had less impact on the community.  T-Mobile was forced to look for an alternate location for the site.
