Councilman Krekorian's Response to KTLA News Further Angers Sherman Oaks Residents

KTLA Channel 5 News reported on their website this morning on our T-Mobile Cell Tower Protest.  In their report, they contacted Councilman Paul Krekorian's office for comment, and they stated the following:

Councilmember Paul Krekorian's office says the tower in question is an existing utility pole that is being modified for use in cell phone communication and is in the public right-of-way. Because the tower is in the public right-of-way, T-Mobile didn't need to get the community's approval, according to Krekorian's office.

The councilman said there is nothing his office can do to prevent the tower from being modified for cell phone transmission.

The response issued by Councilman Krekorian is not fully inaccurate.  Although the antenna and vault may be considered 'exempt', the Cell Tower Facility is operated by a Power Pedestal that requires the approval of Neighborhood Residents.  If residents do not approve the Pedestal, the Cell Tower cannot be built.  Unfortunately residents were not given an opportunity to appeal as T-MOBILE AND Councilman Krekorian did not notify Residents AS REQUIRED.

We ask Councilman Krekorian to spend some time actually informing himself of this case before immediately dismissing our concerns.

We are aware that Paul Krekorian has the authority to stop this project and we demand that he stop supporting T-Mobile and support the residents of Sherman Oaks instead.
